Harrow International School, Bengaluru, designed by CP Kukreja Architects, has been honoured at the LOOP Design Awards 2025, reaffirming its place as a landmark in India's educational architecture. This recognition celebrates not only the excellence of design but also the vision of creating a campus that redefines the relationship between learning environments, heritage, and sustainability.
The LOOP Design Awards is an international platform celebrating innovation and excellence in architecture, interiors, and product design. The 2025 edition drew submissions from leading practices worldwide, positioning Harrow International School, Bengaluru, within a global dialogue on the future of architecture.
The school represents Harrow's first foray into India, bringing over four centuries of academic legacy from the UK to a contemporary Indian context. Owned and operated by the Amity Education Group and Ritanand Balved Education Foundation, the institution embodies a shared commitment to holistic learning and global citizenship. CP Kukreja Architects translated this vision into an architectural language that fuses Harrow's iconic brick identity with the cultural and environmental ethos of Bengaluru, ensuring the campus resonates with both tradition and modernity.
Set on nearly 20 acres, the campus embraces the site's natural eco-stream and native terrain, weaving them into a masterplan where academic, residential, cultural, and recreational spaces flow seamlessly into one another. Landmark features like the clock tower and academic block anchor the campus, while landscaped spines, courtyards, and green corridors nurture interaction and community. Drawing inspiration from Bengaluru's palatial architecture and garden legacy, the design ensures the school is contextually rooted and visually compelling.
Sustainability lies at the heart of the project, with passive strategies such as shaded arcades and jaalis complemented by active measures including solar panels, smart lighting, and efficient HVAC systems. Rainwater management through bioswales reinforces ecological responsibility. Recognised with the prestigious USGBC LEED Platinum rating, the campus sets a benchmark for environmentally conscious educational design.
The LOOP Design Awards recognition celebrates this convergence of heritage, sustainability, and innovation. More than a school, Harrow International School, Bengaluru, is a living ecosystem where architecture shapes learning and inspires future generations, embodying the vision of Harrow School leadership and CP Kukreja Architects.
