Indian Institute of Management, Bodhgaya

Institutional

The site spread across 73.07 acres, the new design is inspired by Ancient Indian architectural Torana. Torana a sacred or honorific gateway in Indian Architecture, is a free-standing ornamental or arched gateway for ceremonial purposes seen in the Hindu, Buddhist and Jain architecture of the Indian subcontinent, Southeast Asia and parts of East Asia. The grand entrance experience of the new IIM will have a true reflection of this architecture. As Buddha got enlightenment under the Bodhi tree, CPKA has proposed a Super Tree, which will not only act as an Iconic Structure but will also have sustainable features comprises of Filtering of water run-off, Generating energy and harnessing waste heat, Cooling the area by chilled water pipes cast within the Super Tree and De-humidifying the air before cooling. The design of IIM reflects the architect’s perfect sense of scale, proportion and light. The Library design takes its inspiration from the open book, spaces full of knowledge and tools, a pop-up book from which can arise extraordinary enrichments.
