Canadian High Commission, New Delhi

Foreign Missions

The Canadian High Commission, located in the posh area of Chanakyapuri in New Delhi, stands facing the beautiful Shantipath Lane. The project involved the design of the housing for the senior diplomats within the premises. The entry for the building is far offset from the main road, first buffered through dense trees guarding the service lane and next by the high-rise boundary wall which guards the buildings. The prestigious project was executed for the Government of Canada. The concept for the building takes on volumetric play. The planning of the residences is such that it is concentrated on a compact land parcel, allowing for more green and open spaces, culturing a vibrant environment for the residents. The ground floor residents are provided with private courtyards while for the residents on the upper floors, terrace gardens become an open space for recreation. Extensive lawns are variegated across the overall landscape, reducing the ratio of hardscape within the site and in doing so, also creating a sustainable habitat.
