Sona Steering Systems Ltd, Gurugram

Industrial

The project is an industrial building for manufacture of steering wheels and other automatic components for cars and is centrally air-conditioned. The façade of the building has been designed using inclined brick walls and concrete members, which induce irregular cut-outs on the façade and create a unique industrial character. The facility exudes a modern character yet one that evolves from an artistic sensibility. Use of concrete members in an abstract pattern over window glazing attracts attention of the visitors whilst serving as an intriguing jaali design, allowing controlled daylight into the interiors. The technical administration areas in the interiors have been provided at the mezzanine level overlooking the plant area, easing supervision and instilling transparent communication between the workers and their supervisors. FDV system has been used to cool the entire plant area. Phase-II of construction involved the design and construction of an axle plant.
