Indian Foreign Service Apartments, Delh

Housing

A fine example of exposed brickwork in high-rise buildings, incorporating green design features that, thirtyfive years later, have now become a popular concept in India. Being adjacent to the Yamuna, the cost-conscious design has done away with basement to obviate the risk of high groundwater. Adequate parking has been provided in stilts and site periphery, creating a large, vehicle-free recreational area. The complex houses a total of 210 units across five towers of eight floors each. Each tower conjoins three U-shaped buildings looking outwards and sharing a common vertical circulation area or stairwell.
