The revised master plan of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital has several new blocks and re-planning and rationalization to include a new 9 storeyed 150 bed super specialty facility with 16 operation theaters, ICUs with laboratory setup, a new oncology block with 2 linear accelerators, additions to the nursing home, general & special wards, a new casualty block, a multilevel parking facility for 400 cars, new state-of-the-art medical gas distribution system, etc.
The sheer scale of the hospital is emphasized through the use of double height drop offs and connecting bridges that interlink the second floor and upwards. The result is a building that cleverly balances out the horizontally spread mass with pseudo-vertical lines that creates an openness on the ground. The use of contrasting materials for its cladding is an integral part of the overall aesthetic of the built form.
